My name is Morgan, and I’m the face (and typing hands) behind Olive Branch Cottage. I’m so glad you’re here!
I’m a wife, dog mom, ICU nurse, and calligrapher living in the Nashville area. My hubby and I moved into our house a month after our wedding, and I’ve enjoyed making it a home ever since.
I love DIY projects, decor that tells a story, and always having coffee ready for a friend to stop by.
So.... why "Olive Branch?"
When I read “Uninvited” by Lysa Terkeurst, a passage about an olive tree reached out and demanded my attention.
Olives need 3 things to grow:
- Wind (harsh wind from the east, and the wind from the west that brings rain)
- A lengthy process to rid them of bitterness (washing, breaking, soaking, and waiting)
- Crushing (to extract the good stuff– oil)
Lysa says it best…. isn’t that what we as people need, too? The hard times aren’t meant to crush our spirits— they’re meant to draw us close to God to get the good out of us.
I scatter little olive branches, wreaths, and faux trees throughout my home to remind me of this truth.
I’m totally a believer in making your decor meaningful, and letting it spark joy in your heart. I hope my blog can give you that nudge to start telling your story through your own little cottage, whatever that may be.
